Hayes tabbed to fill Executive Director of Special Services role

Terrell Independent School District is excited to announce Jammie Hayes as TISD’s Executive Director of Special Services. Hayes, who is finishing her 27th year in education and currently serves as TISD’s Director of Special Services, holds a Master of Science in Special Education with a Diagnostician Certification from Texas A&M University.

LeTourneau University announces Fall 2021 President’s List

Sarah Horan (BS Mission Aviation) was named to the Fall 2021 President’s List at LeTourneau University in Longview, Texas. The President’s List recognizes students who have achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the semester to receive this honor. LeTourneau University President Dr. Steven D. Mason said being named to the President’s List is, indeed, a significant achievement and honor.

Sam Houston State University Announces Fall 2021 Dean’s List

Jasmine Baldwin and Maikayla Garner earned a spot on the Dean’s List of Academic Honors at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville for the fall semester. Both are undergraduates who have achieved a grade point average of at least 3.5 out of a perfect 4.0 in all work attempted while enrolled in not less than 12 semester hours.

Feb. 1: The Kaufman Civic Center, located at 607 E. Fair St., will be the site of a Pfizer vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event is open to both adults and children, with shots administered by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Appointments are required and can be made by calling 817-264-4931.

Members of the Terrell ISD chapter of Future Farmers of America picked up multiple top finishes during District 1 competitions, including having individuals or teams win second overall in Senior Creed Speaking, Ag. Issues Forum and Chapter Ag. Quiz. Welding students excel at competition

AT LEFT: Tyler Cruz and Alexis Escobedo receive instruction recently from Terrell ISD welding instructor Bradley Daniels, who took 12 students to a welding competition in Alvarado to compete against students from across the state. TISD students took home three of the top 10 spots and six of the top 20. Each of these students received an industrial welding certification for their performance at the event. Congratulations to Tyler Cruz, Clayton Crow, Dakota Rucker, Bryant Weatherly, Joseph Hernande, Alexis Escobedo, and Logan Holt. Since 2018 the Excellence Foundation has presented over $70,000 in grants to help this department. The latest grant was sponsored by the Terrell Economic Development Corp. for $29,000 toward a new plasma cutter table. (TISD SOCIAL MEDIA)
